Family Shetty/ Berdnik experienced their first "real" (but small) Indian wedding in Bombay (we have been to Indian weddings in the Bay Area before but never to one in India). Binty and Shiv's wedding was a fun and colorful event and all of us enjoyed it very much. We participated in all the functions of the small wedding (only 150 people! compared to the usual 500-1000 people weddings) and learned a lot about Indian culture. Lela cleaned the bride with turmeric and coconut milk, got Henna ornaments painted on her palms, wore Sarees and gold and guided the bride to her cushion. Nico wore his cute outfit without complaining much and Papa Mayur, shelled in the same colored silk as his son, followed important instructions of the priest during the ceremony and even washed the feet of his new brother in law. It was very difficult to select a subset of pictures for this blog entry as there are so many of them. All together, we had lots of fun and Nico sucked in all impressions of his father's home country like a sponge. He had many questions about life and people in India and bonded well with all his distant relatives.
